GI Bill Information

On June 30, 2008, President Bush signed into law (P.L. 110-252) a bill which included education provisions for veterans. It has been referenced as the “New GI Bill” and is the most comprehensive enhancement to GI provisions since the original GI Bill was signed into law in 1944. The new bill goes well beyond helping to pay for tuition.

Beginning in August 2009, many veterans will receive:
  • full tuition (equal to the most costly in-state school with the opportunity for a private school to offer matching funds)
  • a new monthly housing stipend
  • plus $1,000 per year stipend for books and supplies
Recognizing these new provisions may be of interest to many transitioning veterans, and with the support of the VA, CivilianJobs.com has created a link to the VA’s GI BILL website below. The VA is continuously updating the site to include the latest information on the program.

In addition to active duty service members, the new bill also gives Reserve and Guard members who have been activated for more than 90 days since 9/11 access to the same GI benefits. The amount of benefits received directly correlates to the amount of time served.

If higher education is the path you plan to take, know that CivilianJobs.com, through its parent company, Bradley-Morris, Inc., has built strong relationships with colleges and universities across the country.
