Publisher's Letter: Where has the year gone?
by Bill Basnett, Publisher
The end of the year is quickly approaching - it seems like this year has flown by, and I keep asking myself, “Where has the time gone?” We are closing out the year with a special issue of Civilian Job News by celebrating our second annual Top 40 Under 40 Military recognition program. The initiative was created in 2010 specifically to give a nod to top military service members.
This year’s list reflects a variety of ranks and backgrounds, but despite their wide range of differences, the honorees share one thing in common: achieving outstanding accomplishments with honor and respect. As you read some of their biographies, they should serve as reminders that with the right tools and preparation in place, you too can have a successful military or civilian story to share.
Are you considering using a placement firm but aren’t sure where to begin? Tom Wolfe discusses the dos and don’ts of what could potentially be a smart move. Learn from Tom how to effectively use these matchmakers to help get your foot in the door.
If you’re about to go through the Transition Assistance Program, check out our blog piece discussing common military transition mistakes and what you can do to avoid them.
We also provide rewarding career advertisements from some of our military friendly hiring companies. Visit their web sites to see what’s available and apply for positions that may peak your interest!
As you explore this issue, I would like to take the time to tell you that we at CivilianJobs.com are proud to highlight these men and women who have served our country. If you would like to make yourself eligible for this recognition, or if you know someone who represents the exemplary attributes of a “Top 40 Under 40 Military” professional for 2012, we invite you to participate in the nominating process. Simply join either the “Top 40 Under 40 Military for Officers” or the “Top 40 Under 40 Military for NCOs and Enlisted” group on LinkedIn and follow the instructions.
